Legendary Tom Fazio designed all of the Black Diamond Ranch private golf courses

45-Holes of Championship Tom Fazio Design

When Tom Fazio was asked to "build the best golf courses in the world" in 1984, he took it literally. Fazio crafted two 18-hole courses, the Quarry and Ranch, and one 9-hole course, the Highlands, out of some of Florida's most dramatic landscape.

Early 1930's Early Settlement

The ranch was first settled by John Newell, an Ohio landowner.

Black Diamond Ranch is the best private golf club in central Florida

1940's Citrus Purchase

The property was purchased by John Taylor, Jr., a citrus packing magnate from Largo, Florida.

Black Diamond Ranch is the best private golf club near Tampa

Early 1980's Beauty Discovered

Stan Olsen discovered the natural beauty of Citrus County on central Florida's Gulf Coast.

1984 Bought the Property

Stan Olsen selected Tom Fazio, the world's pre-eminent golf course architect, to design and build two world-class, 18-hole courses that would compliment and enhance the natural beauty of the Black Diamond landscape.

1987 Club Founded 1987

The development of Black Diamond began and the community's gates were first opened in December 1987.
